​Dr. Tashena Briggs invited me to speak and host creative workshops for students during her time as Director of TRIO Upward Bound. Her enthusiasm to give the students exposure to professionals in different industries was extremely contagious. I witnessed how eager she wanted the students to learn something new which could possibly lead them on a new path so therefore I, too, gave 110% effort to ensure I delivered the results she was expecting. At the end of the workshops multiple students expressed to me their interest in the creative arts such as photography and literature. The efforts of Dr. Briggs were refreshing and impactful and it is something I could have benefited from as a high school student myself in my past. For all junior high and high school students who may not know exactly where they want to go, but just know they want to go somewhere, Dr. Tashena Briggs can and will shine a much-needed light on their path.
